Lou Malnati's gluten-free pies available nationwide

Lou Malnati's Pizzeria, based in the Chicago city of Northbrook, Illinois is shipping its gluten- free deep dish pies nationally through TastesofChicago.com, according to a press release.

The newly-introduced pie variety will first be available only as a cheese pizza, but sausage and pepperoni options are in the works. The pizzeria's gluten-free crust is made primarily with rice flour.

"The recipe was a labor of love and it was developed and refined by our team relentlessly, until they could proudly give it the Malnati seal of approval," Lou Malnati's owner, Marc Malnati, said in the release.

The pizzas are available online via TastesofChicago.com and will be offered in stores in early January 2021. Tastes of Chicago also offers food from other renowned Chicago brands like Portillo's, Garrett Popcorn Shops and Long Grove Confectionery, among others.

Considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati's Pizzeria is famous for its deep-dish pies, which are served at more than 60 locations in the Chicagoland area, Arizona, Indiana and Wisconsin.
