Marco's goes 'crustless'

Marco's Pizza Specialty Pizza Bowls has erased the crust in its latest offering, with what it said in a news release is a "crustless pie" it has dubbed the Specialty Pizza Bowl, debuting today on the permanent menu. 

The bowls come as either deluxe, all-meat or garden variety at a suggested menu price of $8.49, though the release said prices may vary depending on location.

"The specialty pizza bowl is everything you love about pizza minus the crust. …" said SVP and Chief Experience Officer Steve Seyferth, in the release. "Adapting to the trends of our consumers is part of our DNA. … With more than one-fourth of the population tossing and wasting the crust of pizza, and the popularization of bowls, this product is an ideal fit. Marco's officially gives you permission to eat pizza with a fork!"

Marco's, headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, has more than 900 stores in 34 states, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas.
