Mellow Mushroom gets not-so-mellow about hiring

Mellow Mushroom has declared May its National Month of Hiring, with plans to add approximately 2,000 employees across its 180 restaurants in 21 states, a news release said.

Despite the brand's energetic approach to its hiring needs, it still insists its trademark mellowness is one of the big draws for those who work at the pizzerias.

"Mellow restaurants are serving more guests every day for in-house dining and demand for off premise sales remains strong," Anne Mejia, Mellow Mushroom vice president, brand development, said in the release. "We are in a position to hire more Mellow team members and feel fortunate to support the local economies where we operate."

The Atlanta-based chain was founded in 1974 and operates under the name Home-Grown Industries of Georgia.
