NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.—A menu price increase of 2.1 percent helped 2003 comparable-store sales rise 4.1 percent at 89-unit Bertucci's Brick Oven Pizzeria.
According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company posted an $8.6 million loss on $186 million in sales for the year. In 2002, Bertucci's lost $5.1 million on $162.3 million in sales.
The company opened 10 restaurants last year—all on the East Coast—while closing one.
Bertucci's year-over-year dine-in guest count dropped 1.3 percent, but its delivery and carryout business rose 1.6 percent.
