DETROIT -- The state of Michigan has seized several Pizza Hut stores owned by UrbanCity Foods' president La Van Hawkins.
According to TV station WDIV 4, State Treasury officials closed the stores, but did not provide details for their action. The stores are located in Detroit and Royal Oak.
Hawkins told the station that the closures arose from a "miscommunication with the state," and because paperwork that needed to be filed wasn't. Hawkins also said the matter will be resolved quickly.
Hawkins' UrbanCity Foods operates about 100 Pizza Hut restaurants and quick-service kiosks in Michigan.
