Owners of the United Arab Emirates-based NKD pizza announced the end of their franchise agreement and the launch of Freedom Pizza, a carry out and delivery business with five stores across Dubai, a 237-person team, 127 delivery drivers and an average delivery time of 23 minutes, according to Arabian Business News.
Ian Ohan, co-founder and CEO, said in the article: "This is, without doubt, the hardest decision of our entrepreneurial careers, but we believe authenticity matters and it trumps just about everything if you put it into food and people and relationships and service.
"We've chosen Dubai as the home for Freedom because it perfectly mirrors our attitude – fresh, dynamic, multicultural, ambitious, fast-growing and open to sharing with the world."
Freedom Pizza will source its vegetables from Greenhart Organic Farms and its gluten-free pizza crusts and desserts from Skinny Genie. The company's cheese will come from locally sourced milk within the UAE.
