Multifoods Distribution changes name to Vistar

DENVER -- Multifoods Distribution Group, based in Denver, has changed its name to Vistar Corp.

According to the Denver Business Journal, Vistar will operate under the name Vistar/VSA, employ 2,500 people and operate 27 foodservice distribution centers in the U.S.

Vistar is owned by Wellspring Capital Management LLC, headquartered in New York City. Wellspring bought Multifoods' distribution business in September for $180 million in cash (See "Multifoods completes sale of foodservice distribution business").

Multifoods International sold its distribution arm in order to operate as a branded, packaged food company.
