Nick-N-Willy's pizza offers wheel deal to boost franchise sales

September 14, 2003

LONE TREE, Colo. -- Nick-N-Willy's World Famous Take-N-Bake Pizza is offering its area developers a wheel deal in hopes of boosting franchise sales.

According to Nation's Restaurant News, the 37-store company's franchise arm, Nick-N-Willy's Franchise Co. LLC, will buy its 14 area developers Harley Davidson motorcycles if each sells at least one new store per quarter over the next eight quarters.

According to Scott Adams, CEO of Nick-N-Willy's, the "Get Your Motors Running" motivational program was designed specifically to rev the engines of the company's all-male sales staff.

Sound like a neat carrot? It is, but here's where the rubber truly meets the road. While the company will spend as much as $20,000 for each salesman's motorcycle, each man first has to buy his own. As each salesman meets his goals, the company rewards him with $2,500 each quarter to be used toward the purchase of the bike.

"It has a negative incentive if you don't hit your goals," Adams told NRN. "This gives them the motivation to make sure they stay on track, or they lose a big chunk of what pays for the bike."
