Nick-N-Willy's take and bake crosses Canadian border, adds baked pies at lunch

LONE TREE, Colo. -- Nick-N-Willy's World Famous Take-N-Bake Pizza announced it will open its first Canadian store in Vancouver, British Columbia, in early October. According to a news release, Nick-N-Willy's will be the first take-and-bake pizza chain to enter Canada.

The company said it plans to open about a dozen stores in multiple U.S. markets this year, raising its 37-store total to 50 by year's end. The growth spurt comes as the Lone Tree, Colo.-based company celebrates its 15th anniversary in January.

"Nick-N-Willy's 15th anniversary is a good milestone for us to enter new markets and stay on course with our plans to open more than 584 stores across the U.S. over the next seven years and open 300 stores in Canada," said Scott Adams, chairman and CEO for the privately held franchising company for Nick-N-Willy's.

The company is adding an eight-inch personal baked personal pizza to its lunch menu. According to Adams, strong sales of baked slices at lunch led to the development of the new pizza.

"Without any marketing focus in the past, about one-third of our business was baked pizza slices and salads," said Adams. "We felt that our lunch offering needed an upgrade and more attention, so it was only natural that we introduce a personal sized baked pizza ... ."

According to the release, tests in seven stores boosted lunch sales by more than 40 percent.

Adams added that new salad offerings soon will follow.

In addition to expanding its lunch menu, Nick-N-Willy's is introducing a children's meal, dubbed Nick's Kid's Meal. The $2.99 deal includes half of an eight-inch baked personal pizza, a fresh-basked cookie and a drink.

This month Nick-N-Willy's will also introduce Wild Willy, its new mascot.
