Norwegian chain, Peppe's Pizza, opening in Kuwait

August 17, 2003

OSLO, Norway -- Norway's largest pizza chain, 60-store Peppe's Pizza, has signed a deal with the Kuwaiti firm National Arabic Co. (NAC) to franchise Peppe's restaurants in Kuwait.

According to a report in StavangerAvisen, the deal clears the way for the Norwegian chain to set up restaurants in other countries in the region.

"With this franchise contract, Peppe's takes its first step outside of the Nordic region," said Peppe's Pizza Managing Director Joannis Vendrig.

Much of the training of the Kuwaiti staff will happen in Norway, though Peppe's staff will train for the first two weeks of each Kuwaiti store opening.

Peppe's was founded in Oslo in 1970, and sells 2.8 million pizzas a year.
