NPC continues comp-increase streak

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas -- Comparable-store sales at Pizza Hut franchisee NPC International increased 7.1 percent for the second quarter ended June 24, 2008, the company announced. Year-to-date comps were up 3.7 percent.
"This quarter marks our eighth consecutive quarter of comparable-store-sales growth and an unparalleled 38 out of the last 40 quarters," said NPC president and CEO Jim Schwartz.
Revenues for the quarter were $189 million, up 10 percent compared with revenues of $172 million for the 2007 second quarter. For the year to date, revenues were $377.7 million, up 9 percent compared with revenues of $345 million for the first half of 2007.
Net income for the quarter was $2 million, up 43 percent compared with net income of $1.4 million for the same period last year. Year-to-date net income was $6.2 million, up 63 percent compared with net income of $3.8 million for the first six months of last year.
NPC International operates 887 Pizza Hut restaurants and delivery/carryout units in 24 states.
