Delivery drivers are suing Pizza Hut's largest U.S. franchisee, NPC International, which is already in bankruptcy proceedings , according to the website, Verdictfoodservice.

In a lawsuit filed this week, the drivers alleged that the company underpaid them between $4 and $12 hourly on work they did while using their own vehicles. In total, the drivers are asking the court for $320 million after alleging that NPC had fallen short of the 57-cent IRS-mandated mileage reimbursement by paying drivers 25- to 35-cents hourly.

The drivers also claim that NPC reported fewer miles than they actually drove. The report said that the drivers' claims are being temporarily held by the court as NPC's bankruptcy reorganization proceeds.

Previously, NPC operated more than 1,225 Pizza Hut stores in the U.S., though hundreds are being sold as part of its reorganization now.

NPC International declined to comment when reached by Pizza Marketplace about details of the lawsuit.
