Operators say pizza delivery rising in India

Financial Express: Use of pizza and other restaurant delivery services is increasing in India.

McDonald's India claims its home delivery business has grown by 15 percent, and Domino's Pizza India has registered a 40 percent sales hike through March 2005. Yum International, which runs Pizza Hut on the sub-continent, is also looking at double-digit sales growth.

"The entry of more organized players, coupled with an increase in the advertising and higher disposable incomes are the major reasons for the growth of this segment," said Amit Jatia, managing director, western region, for McDonald's India.

Domino's marketing head Rakshit Hargave said, "Ordering pizzas at home is convenient and removes the need for utensils and paper napkins. There has been a change in perception in the marketplace because kids prefer it."
