Panasonic unveils integrated POS, surveillance solution

February 4, 2008

SECAUCUS, N.J. — Panasonic System Solutions Company has unveiled an integrated solution that combines control and management capabilities of the company's video surveillance and point-of-sale systems onto a single seamless platform. The new software-driven solution, Virtual Site Manager (VSM), was developed in cooperation with Compass Group.

The software pairs POS workstation data with recorded video to provide a comprehensive record of transactions and cashiers' interactions with customers. VSM can supplement core POS and video surveillance operations by providing business-related information such as senior management, purchasing, human resources and finance reports.

VSM also allows users to perform data searches for terms such as "void," "coupons" or "no sale" to identify any incidents that have occurred and to deter dishonesty among employees. Additional functionality includes the ability to track and monitor employee attendance, behavior, appearance and more, from anywhere in the world via an Internet connection.
