Papa John's is launching a campaign in some of its Texas locations to help a pro football player's organization help kids whose lives have been dismantled by domestic violence. The chain announced in a news release this week that it has partnered with Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten in the "I'm with Witten" campaign.
Through the partnership, Papa John's restaurants in Dallas, Austin and Waco, will give a dollar to Witten's Score Foundation for every extra large pizza deal purchased at those locations. That money, in turn, will go to help fund the Foundation's Scorekeeper Program that pairs male mentors with kids staying in domestic violence shelters.
The nine-year-old program has already assisted more than 6,400 Texas kids, according to a news release, by pairing them with mentors who not only serve as role models, but also friends who can listen, help with schoolwork and even teach a few life skills.
"I want every child who's been in a home where domestic violence has occurred to have the opportunity that I had to break the cycle," said Witten. "My grandfather reset what I understood a man to be and showed me another way. I would not be who I am today without his love and support."
The deal runs through the end of the Dallas Cowboys season.
