Papa John's committed today to giving $100,000 or 1 million meals to national hunger relief organization, Feeding America, a news release said.
"April Fools' Day is a marketing frenzy every year - and we wanted to turn it on its head by supporting a cause and helping to make a difference for the over 40 million Americans who struggle with hunger," Papa John's Senior Vice President and Chief Brand Officer Melissa Richards-Person, said in the release. "As a people-driven pizza company, helping to secure 1 million meals seemed like a natural fit for us to continue to make an impact in local communities."
Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the U.S., will use the donation to help support its network of 200 member food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs, which feed over 46 million people, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors.
It's unclear whether the company is providing a direct donation or if there is an opportunity for Papa John's customers to contribute to the campaign. QSRweb has not yet received a response from the brand to a request for additional details.
