Papa John's launches ''Chickenstrips' nationwide

August 25, 2002

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Papa John's has announced its nationwide roll-out of its newest side offering, Papa's Chickenstrips.

According to a company release, the all white-meat breast fillets are breaded and baked and come with a choice of three dipping sauces: honey mustard, tangy barbeque or buffalo hot sauce.

"I've never been a wing guy, so when our customers asked for a chicken side item, I told our R&D team to find something better," said John Schnatter, founder and CEO of Papa John's.

Introductory price is $4.99, and until Sept. 29, Chickenstrips will be offered in tandem with a large one-topping pizza for $13.99.

Radio advertising begins immediately, followed by national TV and print ad support beginning Sept. 2.

Papa John's has 2,933 stores (595 company-owned and 2,338 franchised) operating in 49 states and nine international markets. The company also owns or franchises 160 Perfect Pizza restaurants in the U.K.
