Papa John's lays off 35

September 15, 2009

Papa John's has laid off 35 of the 600 employees at its corporate office in Louisville, Ky., according to a story in Louisville Business First. The layoffs were not confined to a single department.

According to the story:
"We are operating in one of the worst economies in decades, and unfortunately the pizza business is not immune from this downturn," Papa John's general counsel and senior vice president of communications Chris Sternberg said in an e-mailed statement. "When the economy recovers, and the pizza category again turns positive, we believe Papa John's will be well-positioned for success."
