Papa John's net off 18 percent

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Domestic system-wide same-store sales for Papa John's International Inc. increased 0.2 percent in the first quarter ended April 1, the company announced. Comps at company-owned stores increased 0.6 percent, while compa at franchised stores increased 0.1 percent.
First quarter revenues for the company were $260.6 million, up 8 percent compared with revenues of $242.3 million for the same period in 2006. Net income for the quarter was $13.2 million, down 18 percent compared with net income of $16 million in the firt quarter of last year.
Papa John's opened four company-owned and 22 franchised restaurants in the United States and 18 international franchised restaurants during the first quarter. As of April 1, there were 3,044 Papa John's restaurants operating in all 50 states and 26 countries, consisting of 594 company-owned and 2,450 franchised units.
