Papa John's International, Inc. has officially expanded into Portugal by opening a store in Lisbon's Amoreiras zone. The brand's master franchisee in the Iberian Peninsula, as well as Chile, Panama and Costa Rica — Drake Food Service International — holds the reins on this new Portuguese store, a news release said.
"We are committed to developing the Papa John's brand in Latin America and Europe. We look forward to becoming the most beloved pizza brand, one neighborhood at the time," Drake Food Service International CEO Javier Aranguiz, said in the release.
Papa John's is currently in 48 international countries and territories around the globe and has entered 12 countries for the first time over the past three years. Those newest markets include France, Spain, Tunisia, Iraq, the Netherlands, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Bahamas, Pakistan and now, Portugal.
The company said it will continue rapid global development and is seeking potential franchisees in Brazil, Australia, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.
