Papa John's rolls out Spicy Italian pizza

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Papa John's is introducing a new specialty pizza, the Spicy Italian, which includes a double helping of Italian sausage, plus pepperoni.

According to a news release, the debut price is $13.99.

The new pizza marks the third specialty pie added to Papa John's menu since May, and the second in less than a month (read also Papa John's intros Spinach Alfredo Chicken Tomato Pizza and Papa John's intros Grilled Chicken Club pizza, new Coke-and-music promo.)

Beginning Oct. 4, customers who purchase the new Spicy Italian or any other large pizza at regular menu price will receive a DVD of their choice to keep. The chain has added two new DVD titles to its offerings: "Casper and Friends" and "Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy," which includes a special bonus episode of "The Munsters."

A two-week national TV flight, as well as television and dedicated print media begins Oct. 4.
