CROWN POINT, Indiana -- Papa Murphy's Take 'N' Bake Pizza plans to open 40 new shops in northwestern Indiana and northeastern Illinois.

According to The Times, Don Burrell, chairman of Button Pizza Co., which has exclusive franchise rights for Papa Murphy's in the area, announced the company's plans on May 13 at the Papa Murphy's in Crown Point, Ind.

Following the official Crown Point grand opening on May 17 (Button's 11th store), the next three Indiana towns to get Papa Murphy's will be Munster, Michigan City and Chesterton.

Approximately 150 people are employed at Button's 10 locations, and that number could double as 30 to 40 stores are added in the area over the next two years, according to The Times.

Papa Murphy's International Inc. is headquartered in Vancouver, Wash., and has about 775 shops in 22 states. The company's 2002 sales were $332 million.
