Papa Murphy's plans Phoenix expansion

Papa Murphy's has announced plans to open up to 15 new outlets in the metro Phoenix market this year.

According to Arizona Central, the take-and-bake chain has 26 stores in the area. It first opened in Phoenix in 2006.

The Vancouver, Wash.-based chain opened one of its newest units in January. Another is set to open at the end of this month, while a third is planned to open in mid-May.

Papa Murphy's chief development oOfficer Kevin King said 12 more stores are on the drawing board for openings later this year.

The 15 Phoenix-area stores are among 95 to 100 new locations the company plans to open around the country this year.

There are about 1,300 Papa Murphy's outlets in 37 states, making it the nation's fifth-largest pizza chain.
