Pizza operators making Pi Day a numbers game

That annual celebration of the circle — or at least the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter (3.14) — is about to happen Sunday, March 14. The date has inspired many pizza restaurants to develop specials to attract their share of math-lovers. Most are playing off of the numerical ratio, 3.14, with pies priced or discounted by $3.14. But there are variations and lots of creativity on display by pizza operators nationally.

Below are just a handful of Pi Day offers that have crossed the Pizza Marketplace editorial desk:

• Blaze Pizza: Nationally, the chain is offering app users enrolled by March 14, a customized pizza with unlimited toppings for $3.14 (also the actual calculation of pi referring to the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter) from March 14 through April 12.
• Fired Pie: This Arizona chain is also selling any single-topping pizza for $3.14 when a customer buys a drink at one of its stores on March 14.
• Fresh Brothers: The California brand is offering its pepperoni, cheese and vegan personal pizzas for $3.14 when customers use the code PIDAY.
• Lou Malnati's Pizza: All those who eat at one of this brand's full-service locations can purchase a chocolate chip cookie pizza for $3.14 on March 14.
• Marco's Pizza: Here, the special is a Pi Day version of a BOGO deal. Customers who buy any large pie at menu price, can get a second one of the same or lower price for $3.14 with the code PIDAY2020.
• Pieology: Rewards members can take $3.14 off purchases of at least $10 on March 14 in-store.
• Your Pie: App users at this chain can get $3.14 off a 10-inch pie from March 14 through March 16.
