Pie Five Pizza will open its sixth Kansas City-area location on Aug. 21. The new store will be located in the Cornerstone Commons center at 6809 Johnson Drive in Mission, Kansas.

"You can't beat the price, quality and no one has more fun than our crew at Pie Five," Pie Five Pizza franchisee Dave Goebel said in a press release. "Our family has lived in Kansas City for over 20 years and after trying all of the other fast casual pizza concepts, we knew Pie Five was perfect for our community. This concept is on fire!"

As part part of the new store’s opening-day festivities, Pie Five will be presenting a check to Children's Mercy Hospitals from proceeds from pre-opening events, according to the release. Over $60,000 has been raised for Children's Mercy Hospitals to date by the Goebel family and their Children's Mercy Monday program.

From 11 a..m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 22, Mission Chamber members and Mix 93.3 will be at the store giving $20 Pie Five gift cards, prizes and two chances to win free pizza for a year. Pie Five will also host the Kansas City Chiefs football team cheerleaders and will give away Kansas City Royals baseball tickets, the release stated.

Goebel, former president and CEO of Applebee's, along with his wife, Jan, sons Kerry and Kevin, and daughter Lyssa, signed a 10-unit Pie Five franchise agreement in May 2013. They plan to have eight Kansas City-area locations before the end of the year. The Goebels have identified the Kansas City-area, Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan and St. Joe,Kansas, as an 18-to-20 restaurant territory.

The company currently has 55 locations in 16 states.
