NEW YORK CITY -- Don't look for rocker knives, wheel cutters or circular pizzas sold at Pie, a newly opened pizza-centered restaurant in lower Manhattan.
According to the New York Post, Pie sells pizza -- formed in long, thick rectangles -- by the pound and snipped into sections with scissors. Once cut, a section is weighed and ruNg up. Average price is $2, close to the price of slices elsewhere in Manhattan.
Pie owner Jeffrey Reiss said the pizza is similar to what he found during his travels to Italy.
Topping combinations run the gamut from egg and bacon, sausage and melted onions to baked potato chips, ricotta, rosemary and chopped walnuts.
Pie also offers large panini built between thin slices of sesame bread.
