Forbes.com: Over the past several years, chains like Pizza Hut and Subway have switched to red onions when their product testers learned customers respond positively to their striking color.
"Consumers, first of all, eat with their eyes," said Shirish Mehta, chief food innovations and technology officer for Dallas-based Pizza Hut. "Cheese is light in color and so a white or yellow onion doesn't show up."
