Pizza Guys makes 'Impossible' start to new year

Sacramento-based Pizza Guys is launching the new year with a pair of menu innovations featuring plant-based Impossible Foods products. The Impossible Beef BBQ pizza and Impossible Artichoke Pesto pizza will be available in the chain's more than 70 stores throughout California, Oregon and Nevada on Jan. 4, according to a news release.

The beef BBQ pie has a Tuscany thin crust, Impossible beef, mozzarella and red onions, drizzled with Cattlemens spicy BBQ sauce. The Impossible Artichoke Pesto pizza features thin crust, mozzarella, green olives, marinated artichoke hearts, tomatoes and Impossible beef. The chain is also opening up the option for customers to add Impossible beef as a topping to any other pie.

"We are incredibly excited to provide our customers with access to Impossible products," Pizza Guys CEO and Founder Shahpour Nejad said in the release. "Plant-based alternative meat menu items are a rising trend in the pizza industry and we look forward to being able to share our new menu items with our customers."
