Stuff.co: Owners of New Zealand-based Hell Pizza are wooing franchisees of rival Pizza Haven after the Australian-owned chain was bought by Domino's Pizza Australia last month.
Hell, owned equally by New Zealanders Callum Davies, Stuart McMullin and Warren Powell, has expanded rapidly since moving to a franchise model two years ago. It now has 29 franchisees. (Read also 'Hell' of a gourmet pizza war brewing in New Zealand.)
Pizza Haven, owned by the South Australia-based Christou family, has 35 stores in New Zealand, but has suffered from intense price competition from Pizza Hut and Domino's.
