To celebrate the return of its Big New Yorker pizza, Pizza Hut has broken the Guinness Book of World Records' world's biggest pizza at the Las Angeles Convention Center, according to a press release.
Content creator and YouTube star Arrack, also known as Eric Decker, helped in the event.
The pizza which weighed in at 14,000 square feet, was built with layers of dough first and then sauce and toppings were added. The pizza was cooked by heat lamps.
The pizza uses more than 13,000 pounds of dough, nearly 5,000 pounds of pizza sauce, 8,800 pounds of cheese and more than 630,000 slices of pepperoni.
"Our customers have been begging us to bring back the Big New Yorker for more than two decades, so we knew we had to do something big," David Graves, President of Pizza Hut, said in the press release. "That's why we're setting this Guinness World Records title with Airrack and fans to celebrate the return of this iconic pizza."
The pizza's 68,000 slices were donated to charity. The current Guinness record was set in 2012.
The Big New Yorker returns to menus Feb. 1 for the first time in 24 years.
Pizza Hut operates nearly 18,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries.
