Pizza Hut and its franchisees have launched a foundation focused on education and career readiness to enable its team members and their peers to have access to greater career and life opportunities, according to a company press release.
The foundation will provide scholarships with award amounts between $2,000 and $5,000 to students who are financially disadvantaged and who prove leadership and community involvement in and around Pizza Hut restaurants.
The Pizza Hut Foundation is led by a board of directors consisting of members of the International Pizza Hut Franchise Holder Association (IPHFHA). Gene Camarena, Pizza Hut Foundation board chairman and president of La Raza Pizza Inc., understands the value of providing opportunity to those in need:
"By providing funding for education – whether at a university, vocational school, or trade school - the Pizza Hut Foundation can help students reach their career goals, setting them up to be the leaders and entrepreneurs of the future," Gene Camarena, Pizza Hut Foundation board chairman and president of franchisee group La Raza Pizza Inc. said in the release. "Pizza Hut is grateful to serve communities around the country, and launching the foundation is one way we can give back to our neighbors in need."
The scholarships are available for students on track to apply to two- or four-year colleges or universities, vocational-technical schools, and trade schools. The Pizza Hut Foundation scholarship program is accepting applications now through Aug. 12.
