Pizza Hut plans expansion of standalone WingStreet concept

Pizza Hut recently closed its test standalone WingStreet location in Denton, Texas, but not because of underperformance. According to the Dallas Business Journal, Pizza Hut was simply testing its viability to gauge whether or not the concept would be fit for expansion on its own.

WingStreet has historically been part of co-branded units with Pizza Hut. It made its debut 10 years ago.

Pizza Hut spokesperson Dough Terfehr told the publication that a second standalone WingStreet will open in the Dallas market, and standalone shops will be part of an expansion plan. However, the co-branded shops will also continue to grow, and Terfehr said he expects 75 to 80 percent of all Pizza Huts to include a WingStreet by the end of this year.
