Pizza Hut reaches 50-year milestone

DALLAS — On May 31, 1958, the first Pizza Hut location opened in Wichita, Kan. Fifty years later, the pizzeria has grown into a chain of more than 10,000 restaurants around the world.
In celebration of its 50-year anniversary, Pizza Hut and its franchisees are commemorating the May 31 opening at their annual conference and with a special gala in Washington, D.C.
Today, the original Pizza Hut resides on the campus of Wichita State University, as it was dedicated to the Center for Entrepreneurship in 1986.
