Though Pizza Hut introduced its new Chicago Dish Pizza on Sept. 24, the newest member of the menu didn't get its media coming-out party until Sept. 30.
Now the Dallas-based company is revealing a few facts and figures about the pizza it claims took 10 years to perfect.
According to spokesperson Julie Hildebrand, The Chicago Dish is a permanent menu item, not "an LTO ... a limited-time offer."
The parbaked crust is manufactured at contracted commercial bakeries and shipped to stores. The high-sided, thick crust is made with a touch of cornmeal for texture.

The pizza is assembled in the following order: Along the bottom of the crust are layered slices of mozzarella, toppings (essentially a choice of any Pizza Hut topping) come next, followed by a layer of shredded cheese.
A chunky marinara sauce is heated in the conveyor oven separately from the pizza, spooned on top and followed by a sprinkling of grated Parmesan. If served in house, both the sauce and Parmesan are added tableside.
The finished creation weighs a hefty three pounds, costs $11.99 with three toppings, and it's available nationwide.
