Pizza Hut has ceased operations in Panama. Twelve stores under franchisee Franquicias Panameñas have closed. The first Pizza Hut opened in Panama in 1987, according to a Q24N report.

Joshua Henríquez, general manager of Franquicias Panameñas, said in a statement that the difficult decision was made to ensure and optimize its operations in the future. The franchisee's KFC and Dairy Queen operations remain in business. Taco Bell exited the country in December 2018.

"The difficult decision is made after administrative considerations that seek to ensure and optimize its operations in the future," Henríquez told the news outlet.
