Pizza Hut throwing football bash in Times Square

September 6, 2013

Pizza Hut is kicking off the return of football season by hosting "The World's Greatest Pizza Party" Sunday in New York City's Times Square. The party will include Pizza Hut team members serving free slices of cheese or pepperoni pizza from the company's Mobile Kitchen, a 53-foot 18-wheeler equipped with pizza ovens, according to a company press release. The team expects to dish out roughly 5,500 slices of pizza throughout the day, in recognition of the brand's 55th Anniversary, CMO Kurt Kane said.

"Our customers have told us that Pizza Hut is often at the center of their game time experience, so we want to start the season off right," he said. "No pizza company will be in more households during this football season than Pizza Hut, and in celebration of that shared love for football with our fans, we're throwing a great Pizza Party in New York City just like our fans will in their homes across the country."

In addition to the Pizza Party in Times Square, Pizza Hut is hosting a virtual Pizza Party on Twitter, giving away free pizza to followers using the hashtag #WorldsGreatestPizzaParty. On any given Sunday, Pizza Hut dishes out more than 8 million slices of pizza, the company said.
