Pizza Hut to challenge Domino's in India

March 30, 2010

Shortly after Domino's announced that India was one of its top markets a few weeks ago, Pizza Hut is planning to ramp up its delivery outlet presence in the company, according to Indian newspaper Mydigitalfc.com.

Yum Brands! company Pizza Hut plans to open 400 new delivery outlets in the country by the end of the next fiscal year, according to the source, and even playing off Domino's 30-minute delivery guarantee.

From the story:
Niren Chaudhary, managing director, India subcontinent, Yum Restaurants, had said late last year that the chain intended to increase its store count from 200 to about 1,000 in the next about five years.

"We intend to become a billion dollar company by 2015," he said. Yum runs the Pizza Hut and KFC chains as well as the recently opened Taco Bell outlet.
