LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Yum! Brands Inc., parent company of Pizza Hut, reported in a news release that same-store sales at its 1,700 U.S. company stores dropped 4 percent for the four-week period ended Nov. 1. Pizza Hut does not release sales figures for its franchise stores, which comprise about three-fourths of its domestic system.
The decline follows respective increases of 4 percent and 1 percent in each of its two prior four-week periods (see related stories Pizza Hut Aug.-Sept. sales rise 4% and July-August sales rise 1% at U.S. Pizza Huts).
Estimated international system blended sales (comprised mainly of Pizza Hut and KFC unit sales) increased 8 percent prior to foreign currency conversion or 16 percent after conversion to U.S. dollars.
