Pizza Inn back in Atlanta after 20 years

Atlanta Business Chronicle: ATLANTA — Byron Thompson, co-owner of the new Pizza Inn restaurant near Covington, grew up in Alpharetta in the 1960s and 1970s. Next door to his father's car lot was a Pizza Inn restaurant.

"I remember that I didn't like pizza, but I liked it there," Thompson said. "My mom says it must have been the sauce. I was raised with the Pizza Inn name."

It's a name that's now returning to metro Atlanta after an absence of two decades. With new franchises in Covington, Newnan and Conyers, Pizza Inn is mounting a suburban-based comeback and hopeful of strong growth ahead.

"We're excited about getting back to metro Atlanta," said Ronald W. Parker, president and CEO of the The Colony, Texas-based chain. "Atlanta's a vibrant market with a strong base of customers."
