Pizza Inn comps up 1.4 percent

THE COLONY, Texas — Total domestic chain-wide comparable stores sales at Pizza Inn Inc. rose 1.4 percent in the first quarter, the company announced. Comparable buffet restaurant sales increased 3.4 percent
 
Revenue for the company was $12.1 million, up slightly from revenue of $11.8 million in the first quarter of 2006.
 
Net income for the quarter was $345,000, compared with a net loss of $1.1 million last year. The company recorded a charge of $300,000 related to the departure of former chief executive officer Tim Taft, who resigned in August.
 
Chief financial officer Charlie Morrison has been serving as interim CEO while the company searches for a replacement for Taft.
