Pizza Inn net jumps fivefold

THE COLONY, Texas —  Total domestic chain-wide comparable-store sales at Pizza Inn Inc.increased 3.8 percent for the second quarter ended Dec. 23, and 2.7 percent for the year to date, the company announced. Comparable domestic buffet restaurant sales increased 5.2 percent for the second quarter and 4.3 year-to-date compared with the same periods last year.
 
The company recorded revenues of $12.7 million for the second quarter, up 10 percent compared with revenues of $11.5 million in the 2007 second quarter. Year-to-date revenues were $24.7 million, up 6 percent compared with revenues of $23.3 for the first six months of fiscal 2007.
 
Net income for the quarter was $853,000, up 461 percent compared with net income of $152,000 for the 2006 second quarter. Net income for the first half of fiscal 2008 was $1.2 million compared with a loss of $909,000 for the first six months of the 2007 fiscal year.
 
The company opened four new franchised buffet restaurants during the quarter.
