Pizza Inn reports Q2 loss

November 8, 2006

THE COLONY, Texas — Pizza Inn reported a loss for its first quarter ended Sept. 24, 2006.

The quarter resulted in a net loss of $1.06 million versus a net loss of $490,000 for the same quarter last year on revenues of $12 million and $12.9 million, respectively.

Comparable restaurant sales decreased 0.9 percent for the quarter.

Tim Taft, Pizza Inn president and chief executive, said the company began outsourcing distribution services and passing on the cost savings to franchisees through lower product prices, "which we believe will improve franchisee economics without compromising the company's profitability."
