DALLAS -- Pizza Patrón, after re-branding its 17-year-old concept, reports a 17 percent jump in same-store sales at its four locations during an 18-week period ending May 4, according to a news release.
The company redesigned its storefronts and interiors during the period and also attributes founder Antonio Swad's full-time involvement as key elements in the sales increase. Swad recently sold his Wingstop chain, which was ranked No. 5 on Entrepreneur Magazine's "Top 25 Franchises" list.
"Developing and franchising the Wingstop brand consumed much of his time and energy over the last 10 years," said Andrew Gamm, director of marketing for Pizza Patrón. "He is now focusing on developing the Pizza Patrón brand and making it into a national presence."
In the news release, Gamm also said adding Wayne Schmidt as director of operations will help position the company nationally.
"Wayne Schmidt was formerly the international business manager for Papa John's Latin American operations," said Gamm. "He is implementing uniform operation procedures that improve the stores' management and efficiencies."
Pizza Patrón offers carryout only and locates in Spanish-speaking or predominately Hispanic neighborhoods. The menu is value oriented with prices ranging from $3.49 to $6.99. Gamm said the company has development agreements for seven locations.
