Pizza Patrón moves into Rio Grande Valley

May 18, 2016

Pizza Patrón will open a new location in Brownsville, Texas, by the end of the year under the ownership of a pair of franchisees, who plan to add a total of six stores to the chain. Francisco Chavez and Victor Hugo Rodriguez want to grow the chain’s Rio Grande Valley footprint. They already own a number of businesses in the area and like the brand’s Hispanic take on pizza.

"The Rio Grande Valley continues to be one of the most dynamic and fastest growing restaurant regions in Texas. Combine that with our brand's unique Hispanic focus, and this market is not only appealing but favorable for Pizza Patron's continued growth as well," said Victor Vazquez, vice president of business development for Pizza Patrón.

With 93 restaurants open in four states, executives at Pizza Patrón said they were interested in developing secondary and tertiary markets, such as El Paso, Midland, Odessa, Abilene, Temple and Killeen.

"We've also developed a new quick-serve restaurant prototype, a freestanding ,200-square-foot building featuring a pick-up window," said Vazquez. "This new structure provides developers an opportunity to continue to grow despite high occupancy in certain markets."

The 30-year-old chain concentrates on bicultural service and is known for its acceptance of Mexican pesos for payment, as well as a campaign four years ago that gave free pizzas to anyone who ordered in Spanish.
