Pizza Pizza to celebrate singles on Valentine's Day

Toronto-based Pizza Pizza is temporarily changing its name to Pizza at participating locations to celebrate Valentine's Day with singles, according to a press release.

The brand received tens of thousands of orders for people celebrating the holiday, but this year will hand out free pizza slices to the singles at five participating locations in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Winnipeg. The name change is temporary — the brand goes back to Pizza Pizza on Feb. 15.

"Here at Pizza, we've always connected well with families and couples on Valentine's Day. This year, we thought we would also give a shout-out to single people with the gift of a slice," Adrian Fuoco, vice president marketing, said in the press release. "The program connects back to our belief and brand platform that 'Everyone Deserves Pizza'."

Pizza Pizza will also carry their Heart Pizzas on Valentine's Day. A portion of proceeds goes to their Slices for Smiles Foundation which helps raise funds for children's hospitals across Canada through Canada's Children's Hospital Foundation.

Pizza Pizza operates more than 730 restaurants in Canada.
