TORONTO — Pizza Pizza is raising the service bar in the Canadian pizza delivery segment by promising all its pizzas will arrive hot or they're free.
According to a news release, the 300-plus-unit company has purchased 10,000 heated delivery bags it claims will ensure pizzas will arrive at customers' doors at 60 C (140 F). To validate the arrival temperature, all the new bags bear an exterior LED temperature gauge.
For longer-distance deliveries, the heated delivery bags have special car adaptors that allow the heating element to stay on during the delivery. The bags use top and bottom heating elements.
"At Pizza Pizza, we are continually looking for new ways to prepare and serve the best pizza," said Pat Finelli, vice president of marketing. "We invested a considerable amount and spent more than a year testing heating technologies and looking at ways to take the best in the marketplace and make it better."
