PizzaMarketplace.com Top 100 Movers & Shakers, No. 51: Round Table Pizza, Concord, Calif.
Round Table Pizza is poised to bounce back from its Chapter 11 filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court last year. The brand recently signed an exclusive agreement with the Mesa Group to develop 20 restaurants in Vietnam, with the first one in Ho Chi Minh City. That brings the total number of international Round Table Pizza restaurants operating or slated for development to 37. Round Table recently hosted licensee events in Hong Kong and Indonesia. Last year's filing was aimed at improving the company's cash flow and stabilizing its business through recapitalization of debt and renegotiation of above-market leases. Despite improving business performance and expense reductions, the company said the filing was necessary to improve competitiveness as the economy recovers. The concept was founded by Bill Larson in 1959 in San Francisco.
