Pizzas 4 Patriots en route to US troops for July 4
Pizzas for Patriots, in partnership with DHL Express, is returning for this Fourth of July. The campaign projects the delivery of 5,000 pizzas to service men and women stationed overseas, including in Afghanistan.
Pizzas 4 Patriots is a Chicago-based non-profit organization created in 2008 by Retired Master Sergeant Mark Evans and his son Kent. They wanted to deliver freshly-frozen, partially baked Chicago-style pizzas to U.S. troops serving abroad to show their appreciation for the troops’ service, according to a news release.
DHL Express is donating the staff, infrastructure and resources to execute the delivery. In addition to transportation, tracking and logistics management, DHL Express will work closely with the U.S. military to provide final, door-to-door delivery at the military bases. The pizza will be distributed to various Forward Operating Bases in Afghanistan.
