Tim Tam Tavern, a pizzeria in Louisville, Kentucky, raised more than $6,000 for the family of a Louisville Metro police officer killed while on duty. Zachary Cottongim died Dec. 18 after being hit by a car outside his patrol unit during an investigation.
The pizzeria raised $6,189.13 from sales and donations on Dec. 27, according to a WLKY report.
"First, we want to apologize for the long waits, any orders that were messed up, running out of products," the pizzeria said in a Facebook post. "Thanks to everyone who fought through this with us and waiting on us to catch up. Pizza with a Purpose is exactly what it was. You had a purpose. Our business was never designed to handle what was thrown at us today."
The pizzeria raised more than $4,000 in food sales and nearly $2,000 in checks, cash and credit card donations.
The restaurant opened on its day off to raise money for Cottongim's family.
