Harrisburg, Pennsylvania-based Knead Pizza has shuttered its doors on its two pizzerias just days after employees announced they would unionize, according to a report in The Burg.
The company reported on its social media sites that it had shut down its original location and its slice shop.
Two weeks ago, 11 of the brand's employees announced they would seek to unionize and said they'd filed for unionization with the National Labor Relations Board to join Unit Here Local 274 based out of Philadelphia.
"Knead workers are committed to win job projections, including life sustaining work schedules and health benefits," the workers said in a press statement.
In the social media post announcing their closure, Knead said the attempt to unionize was a reason for the closure.
"We respect the right of workers to organize under the National Labor Relations Act or other appropriate law," Knead said on Instagram. "We hope our workers will recognize our related right as an employer, especially a small employer, during these extremely difficult operational times, to close our entire business operation. We continue to wish our employees well."
